Interesting idea for campus fire training, make it fun.
"The Greek Fire Academy empowers student leaders to have the skills necessary to ensure a safer environment in their Greek chapter house," said John Henderson, director of the CU Greek Liaison’s Office. "Hence, the program illustrates the importance of the strong partnership that has developed between the Boulder Fire Department and the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Council Greek communities."
Students in the academy will be assigned to work in a "fire crew" that will be placed in situations that require teamwork and cooperation in simulated fire situations such as:
• A four-story evacuation simulation • A hose station requiring the student to connect a hose to a hydrant, pull hose from a truck and charge a water line • Fire extinguisher use on a live fire • A search and rescue station where students will [...]
