Pretty good advice but you are supposed to put it at least 4 inches down from the ceiling when you put it on the wall (unlike what they did with the light-up one. If it’s on the ceiling, it should be at least a foot from the wall, and 2 feet from corners.

Yes, for Firex, Kidde, and Fyrenetics smoke alarms. But the best safety advice is right in the instruction manual. Read the instructions to learn where your particular smoke alarm should be located.

I have the one you were showing at 1:43, those have both a test/reset switch, but I think it would be useful if they only had a reset switch on them, because it’s kid of pointless, and they could just pass it off as one that can detect smoke more easily.

those carbon monoxide smoke are very loud i heard one of those go off and made my ears ring but they are not that loud just louder than most other smoke alarms but anyway you want the smoke alarm to be loud so you can wake up faster and (special reminder)always have smoke alarms in your house especially carbon monoxide alarms

I remember I time when I was in boarding school there was a time when the fire alarm went off at 2:45 AM and every student living on the same floor as me including me slept through the first 15 minutes of it.

the main reason to have carbon monoxide alarms in your home is carbon monoxide is an oderless tasteless poison gas that you cant see so it is urgent to have a carbon monoxide in your home

My home has a smoke alarm on each floor but wired into the mains, they have 9v backup batteries, which last about 5 years as they still discharge slowly and theres never power cuts where I live well not since 2001. When I was younger my home had alarms with light units, you could use the light only in event of a power cut by pressing the light on/off button, they alarm had test and light button.

Wilson,
You have what we call “hard wired units” and yes you should have the kind that has back up battery. However you must still replace the battery every 6 months unless you purchase the long cell lithium battery rated for 10 years. Any other kind must be replaced due to loss of power in the cell. Oooooonooooo!!! RUN FOR THE HILLS! Don’t Live in a HOUSE!! …why do these ridiculous MSM fearmongering outlets keep up the hype?? Seriously, if parents can’t hear the smoke alarms in their children’s rooms, then the parents are negligent and careless.

Also, kids don’t wake up because they are “sleeping like a baby.” Just need to stress them out, give them long hours of work, and yell at them more..then they won’t sleep so soundly!

As a Mom this is very scary to me. I am sure that my hubby and I would hear it and rush to get the kids… but when we have a sitter… this is too scary. I am going to keep an eye out for the voice alarms! Nothing is more important than the safety of my children!

We just had a house fire in July and this really scared me to death. We were not home at the time of it so I don’t know if they would have heard it or not. In fact our smoke alarms all melted off the walls even in the rooms where the flames did not reach.

supplied fire extinguisher products should be randomly check and be tested to a chemical laboratory to analyze the purity of Hexaflouropropane. FE-36 is a trademark from DuPont, it a good alternative to Halon 1211 and Halon 1301.

Im kinda worried since i slept through a smoke alarm once =__= I only woke up becuase my dog ran into my room and started barking when she heard the thing bleep. Good thing it was a false alarm.

what does the standard say? look again to the video 0:24… you have edited. Try to observe the pouring of the fuel… water was already present at the pan. And how about the fuel itself? Is it a pre-mixed fuel with water?

Had was cooking after my son went to bed and I forgot to take something out of the oven before I turned it on and it set off the smoke alarm and my 19 month old son didn’t wake up at all and it is right by his door. It scares me.

Smoke alarms should have 2 different sounding beeps that alternate between eachother. One beep that would wake an adult, and one beep that would wake a kid. Since adults and kids have different sleeping patterns. That’s a great idea! I should make money off this idea LOL
