(BangkokPost.com) - A 14-year-old boy and his grandmother were badly wounded Friday morning when insurgents blasted their stall selling rice puddings in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district.
Buddhists Lert Kongsamret, 68, and her grandson Chongchaikwan were rushed to the Tak Bai hospital.
In Yala, patrol soldiers narrowly escaped a bomb when their vehicle sped past a spot where insurgents hid the blast.
Police said the vehicle was heading towards Ban Toh Bakae in Raman district when a blast went off right after the vehicle passed an improvised explosive packed into a fire extinguisher tank laying at the roadside.
The bomb was detonated too late to cause injuries. The damage from the blast only caused a hole of 3-metres wide and 1.50-metres deep.
