(PRWEB) August 28, 2004 — On September 8th, 2004 Fire Chief Dan Daly of the New York City Fire Department will visit Hungary to thank the firefighters and people of Hungary for their prayers and support following the terrorist attacks of 9/11/2001 on the World Trade Center. Chief Daly will be speaking in several cities during his weeklong tour of Hungary. Chief Daly is a guest of the City of Kiskunfelegyhaza and its Fire Department, who will be sponsoring several events to honor their brother firefighters of New York City, the victims of the 9/11 World Trade Center tragedy. COMMEMORATIVE 43-KM / 26-MILE MARATHON SEPTEMBER 11, 2004 START AT 9.45 AM – KISKUNFELEGYHAZA In honor of the brave firemen who died on September 11th 2001, in the World Trade Center terrorist attack, the City of Kiskunfelegyhaza, Hungary has organized a 43-km/26-mile marathon-relay for the fire companies of Hungary and neighboring countries. Initiated by Nemes Nagy Tibor, one of the laureate firemen from Kiskunfélegyháza, the 3rd annual event is expected to be in attendance by firefighters and citizens throughout Hungary and several neighboring countries. Chief Dan Daly, who will speak at these events, is a 24-year veteran of the New York City Fire Department. He worked extensively at Ground Zero and received the New York State Senate Liberty Medal for his work there. Chief Daly feels that what he saw there and what he felt changed his life forever. Not only was he a witness to the great tragedy of 9/11, but also to the power of the indomitable human spirit, and the great sense of teamwork and hope that arose from the ashes. Since 9/11, Chief Daly has given presentations around the globe on his experience at Ground Zero and on the lessons all of us can learn from this tragedy. He has lectured on peace, teamwork, tolerance, personal initiative, leadership, disaster preparedness, fire safety, anti-terrorism and related topics. His global audiences have included heads of state, members of Congress, members of foreign military, police and fire departments, students from grade school through university and members of the general public. He has given lectures in 26 cities from Nicaragua to Nepal. Because of his presentations, Chief Daly has been featured on radio, TV and hundreds of publications around the world, including AOL International News. In November of 2002, Chief Daly retired from the New York City Fire Department but continues to give his presentations worldwide. It has become his personal mission to share the lessons of 9/11 and encourage people to make the changes in their lives necessary to bring about peace.
